Religious Education At St. Joseph’s

Our Mission Statement

‘At St. Josephs, we live, love and learn by the example of Jesus.’

Our School Prayer

The Chaplaincy Team have worked alongside Fr. John and Mrs O’Connor to think about our school, our faith and what St Joseph’s really stands for. With these ideas the prayer was drafted and re drafted before being shared with the whole school community for their views. Our prayer is now visible for all to see and every child/family has received a little prayer card.

Dear Lord,

Our School is loving. Our School is joyful.

We are proud, patient, respectful and considerate Lord,

as we share your message of Love, Faith and hope.

In everything we do

In everything we say

In everything we think.

Please Lord, lead and love us always.

St Joseph pray for us.

Come And See

What is Come And See?

A Catholic Primary Religious Education programme for the Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 published in July 2012.

‘It follows on from successful trialling in schools in England and Wales and is based on the theological foundations of the Second Vatican Council, the Catholic Catechism and the revised RE Curriculum Directory and includes the Catholic attainment levels.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church addresses the search for meaning in life. God’s initiative in Revelation who comes to meet us and our response of faith. (cf. CCC26) This pattern guides the structure of the programme and informs the process of each topic, opened up through; Explore, Reveal and Respond’

In January 2014, we adopted the ‘Come And See’ scheme of work to deliver the RE Curriculum as set out in the Religious Education Curriculum Directory (RECD).
