A fun-packed week in Yr2 with our Black History learning!
We used the text ‘Martin’s Big Words’ to teach us about the life of Martin Luther King. It was really powerful and the children engaged well with it. We have written factfiles about Martin Luther King and today we wrote our own ‘I have a dream…’ speeches.
We have worked hard on place value this week and representing numbers using Baase-10, money and place value cards. We understand that in the number 23 (for example), the number 2 actually means 20 with 3 ones. Some really great work which lays a good foundation for adding and taking away 2-digit numbers in the coming months.
We started our ‘Signs and Symbols’ topic by thinking about the importance of signs and symbols around us; this will link into our understanding of Baptism and the items used during this sacrament. You are welcome to join us for our Prayer Service on Thursday – lines will be sent home on Monday.
We learnt about Jesse Owens and the significance of his medals at the Berlin Olympics – we have lots of aspiring runners and athletes in Yr2!
Log on to Purple Mash and click on the to do icon at the top. You can have a go at the coding game, or a Martin Luther King factfile.
African Mask Workshop
We have also welcomed Miss Wade to Yr2 who will be with us until early December on placement.
Have a lovely weekend!
