Year 3, Summer 2, Week 2

I haven’t actually seen much of Year 3 this week as I was on a course for one day and off ill for the last two days but they assure me that they have been working hard in my absence!

This week in maths, Year 3 have revised the time work they learned in Year 2 and have started telling the time to the nearest minute on analogue and digital clocks.  They then progressed to saying and writing times at various intervals earlier or later.  Please do take every opportunity to practise the skill of reading the time on an analogue clock with your child as many of them find this difficult.

English this week has been based on the Greek myth about Daedalus and Icarus; children listed the main events and looked for powerful verbs before retelling the story, using a range of powerful verbs, expanded noun phrases and all the other tools we’ve been learning recently.  I’m looking forward to reading them.

In RE this week, children thought about making the right choices and where we can get help to do so.  They also thought about consequences of choices.

Don’t forget our Class Mass and Thanksgiving Celebration of First Communion next Thursday (20th) at 11am.  The Mass is in the morning so that we can combine it with our celebration picnic lunch (see yesterday’s dojo for details). Parents are welcome to the Mass and the picnic celebration afterwards so all contributions to add to our picnic will also be welcome.  We look forward to this wonderful celebration together.
