Well-Being in Week 5 (Year 5)

This week was filled with peaceful and nurturing activities both inside class and around the school. Mental health awareness activities were provided by all different adults and I want to thank all the staff for their amazing efforts – I really think the children benefited from this in a short space. I’m certainly going to make more of a concerted effort to incorporated these types of activities into my practice!

Next week in maths children are going to be multiplying 3 and 4 digit numbers by 2 digit numbers. This will involve some calculations were the children will have to regroup. Throughout this written method children will be exploring the similarities and difference between long and short multiplication and which is more efficient; depending on the calculation.

In English we will be looking at poetic structures, specifically personification in poetry.

Our spelling rule this week is silent letters at the beginning of words so make sure you check out spelling shed for that.
