Nursery News 11/1/19

Welcome to our first Nursery post of 2019! I hope you have all had a wonderful and restful Christmas. We had a very busy final week last term prior to the Christmas break so I have uploaded some photos of what we did. As well as having our amazing Sing-a-long, we had our Christmas party, a visit from Father Christmas, wrote and posted our letters to the big man himself, decorated the class and made beautiful tree decorations, which hopefully were the focal point of your Christmas tree this year! All this festive fun on top of our learning really made for a fun but very busy end to an amazing Autumn term!

Back to 2019 and this week we have settled back nicely into our routines. We had our topic launch for our new Minibeast topic, which will be the basis for our activities for this half term. We have had a real focus this week on developing the children’s pencil grip and moving their fine motor development on so that we can began to write our names. Please do practise and reinforce this at home. I am currently in the process of creating letter/name formation sheets tailored to each child, in order to help at home.

In maths we are continuing to develop our number recognition. As well as the letter formation and name writing sheets, I will also be sending home number flashcards in order to reinforce your child’s number knowledge and am currently creating a set for each child.

Just a little reminder that if you are applying for a Reception place for your child, the closing date is this Tuesday 15th January 2019. You must complete an online application via Broxbourne and have completed/handed in a paper application into our school office. If you have any questions about this please do contact one of the lovely ladies in our school office, who will be more than happy to assist you.

Have a wonderful weekend and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday.

Mrs Carpineta and Mrs Gilliam.
