Week 5

W/C 8th October 2018

What a fantastic week Year 4 had. As part of Black History Week, we were joined by different parents who spoke to the children about their culture and where they are from. Year 4 have been spoilt today; they have been tasting different types of food and learning different types of cultural dances. In the afternoon we were joined by Patsy Spears who shared a lot of information about Windrush generation.

Thank you to all the parents who helped to make today an amazing and interesting day!

In English this week we started writing our final Myth. The ideas that the children have are absolutely brilliant and I can’t wait to read their final piece. The children have generated their own success criteria and have started to include this independently. Great work guys!

In Maths we have been learning about different mental strategies to add or subtract quickly. We have used multi-link cubes to explore equal difference which we will explore more next week.

In Topic this week, we have looked at Barack Obama, the first African-American President. We created our own Biographies and have started our own presidential elections. We looked at Martin Luther King and Obama comparing speeches and why their speeches were so effective. We will complete this next week.

In Science this week we have created our own investigation with eggs. We have been speaking about how to keep our teeth healthy. We are investigating how different liquids can affect the enamel on our teeth. We will let you know what our results are next week!
