What a week, Year Six have settled in beautifully. We have worked extremely hard and pushed ourselves lots. We have already seen huge improvements with our handwriting, language, place value understanding and confidence- long may it continue.

RE- we started our topic, ‘loving’ we thought about what love is an discussed the variety of love we can feel. We then read Isaiah’s speech to the people of Israel and used this to create our own speeches about God’s love. Today we read the Prodigal Son and spoke about unconditional love and wrote diary entries as either one of the sons or the father.

English- we have been looking at the wordless book by Shaun Tan- The Arrival and have had some great discussions about the pictures, really developing our inference skills. We then wrote some poetry, a narrative and a diary entry.

Maths- we have been looking at place value and reading, writing and ordering numbers in to the millions.

Science- we looked at the importance of the heart and labelled the various parts on to diagrams.

Topic- we wrote our names in hieroglyphics and looked at the location of Egypt, why it is so hot, which continent and why the Nile was so important to the Egyptians.

I cannot wait to see what fabulous work week 3 will bring 🙂
