Our first week back since half term and what a week it has been! It was Art Week this week and Nursery have been busy creating some beautiful under the sea themed art that will be part of the upcoming Art exhibition. I can’t tell you too much as it will ruin the surprise so you will just have to watch this space!
Also as part of the Art week celebrations Nursery and Reception classes switched on Wednesday to create some art with a different teacher. Nursery seemed more than a little at home in the Reception class, which was lovely to see. Visiting Reception is all part of the transition process ready for September. It seems so far away but the time will fly by and they will soon be in ‘Big School’!We have talked a lot about moving on to Reception classes and we have added a box of school uniform in our role play area to give them an idea of things to come.
Our new topic for this term is ‘Under the Sea’ and our story this week was ‘Bright Stanley’.
Nursery ventured further afield this week with a (mammoth-for-little-legs) journey to the Waltham Cross library. All the children were amazing walking there and back and sat beautifully while the two librarians read us some stories and sang a few songs. One of the librarians commented on how brilliant Nursery were and said how impressed she was with their behaviour, so well done Nursery!
Please do join the local library if you haven’t done so already. As you know, the children love looking at books and having stories read to them. Part of our daily activities includes looking at a book, choosing our favourite page and sharing why we like it with the class. All of this fosters a love of reading and being able to share our thoughts in front of an audience helps to develop our confidence and communication skills.
PS I have added some pictures of our wheelbarrow entry. We didn’t win but apparently we came a very close second. The children worked very hard so I wanted you to see what they had produced!Go Nursery!
Have a fantastic weekend in the sun!
