Year 3, Summer 1, Week 4

A short week but a busy one!

In English we have continued with our work on fables.  We have practised summarising stories and planning a fable.  The children were impressive with their great recall of the story and their time adverbs.

We are still practising division in maths, sharing 2 and 3-digit numbers with and without regrouping and using base-10 to help with this.  Good knowledge of multiplication tables helps with this so all children need to keep practising their tables, particularly 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10.

Our RE topic continues to be Energy and we have been learning about the Ascension and Pentecost.  The children made some very perceptive observations about Pentecost this week.

This week has been International Week and the children loved the Lion King workshop which started us off on Tuesday.

In our topic lesson, we carried on the international theme by beginning work on our Greek pots.

On Friday the school celebrated International Day.  Year 3 did themselves proud with their costumes and international colours.  Thank you to all the children (and their parents) who brought in food for the class to try.

Next week, we will be painting our Greek pots so please ensure that your child has an old shirt/t-shirt or apron to wear over his or her uniform.
