Friday again and the start of a lovely, long weekend with the upcoming Bank Holiday Monday. We had a fun week in Nursery ending with our Sponsored Bounce this morning. Thank you to all those that took part, please do return those forms next week along with your donations for all those hard earned bounces!
Our book this week was ‘Superkid’ by Claire Freedman and Sarah McIntyre. We spoke about what our favourite part of the story was. We role-played the story and even made up some of our own adventures using our superhero stick puppets. We made superhero masks too and talked about what superhero powers we would like to have.
In maths, we looked at finding one less than a number. We used large dice to demonstrate how we can ‘take away’ a spot by hiding it in order to find ‘one less’ of a total. We are practising our number recognition of numerals to 10/20 daily so please do continue this at home. Some of us chose to use two dice in order to reinforce our learning of adding two numbers ‘altogether’.
Our sound of the week was ‘m’ and next week it will be ‘d’. We are practising writing our names so please continue to practise this at home.
We have been developing our green thumbs again this week and are expanding our little Nursery garden. We are creating a lovely sensory herb garden and today we all explored the new smells of the lemon thyme, rosemary and mint. The children were all fascinated that we now have a plant that, according to one, smells like toothpaste!Watch this space as our garden continues to ‘grow’!
In R.E. we discussed what ‘Good News’ meant. The children shared some of their recent ‘good news’ with each other. We would love to see some photos of any recent special times when they have celebrated ‘good news’ at home with family and friends.
We currently have 6 volunteers to walk with us to church on Friday. We do need a few more so if anyone else can volunteer we would be extremely grateful.
Have a wonderful weekend in the sunshine (fingers crossed!) and we will see you all on Tuesday!
