In English this week we continued to look at explanation texts. We looked at different openers which the children also identified as ‘fronted adverbials’. We looked at Wallace and Gromit’s cracking contraptions of ‘The Snoozatron’. We spoke about what the contraption was, what it did and took it in turn talking about how Snoozatron works. We wrote down key words which we then turned into sentences using our fronted adverbials to make the sentences better and precise.
Maths has certainly been a challenging one this week. We looked at problem solving that involved decimal numbers. The children did really well and explained their reasoning.
Year 4 had their prayer service on Thursday which was beautiful. The children really understand and have produced some fantastic work for our ‘New Life’ topic.
We have started to look at a new science topic called ‘States of Matter’. For our first lesson, the children classified different solids and liquids. We looked at what makes them different and the particles that are within them. The children then became scientists and created film clips explaining the difference between solids and liquids using different objects to support their explanations.
