Wow this week has flown by, and with the start of our new ‘Space’ topic, it really has been ‘out of this world’!
Our story this week was ‘Whatever Next’ by Jill Murphy and the children loved listening to Baby Bear’s trip to the moon.We painted some beautiful planet paintings and the children have really enjoyed the space roleplay area.
The children have loved learning about the planets and hopefully have come home full of facts.Try asking them what Saturn’s rings are made of (spoiler- it’s ice!).
In maths, we have been working on our numeral recognition of numbers 0-10.The children are doing so well but please do reinforce this by showing them numbers in the outside environment, writing them down or looking on packaging at the shops-it all helps!
We have also removed the children’s photos from their names during registration to encourage them to recognise and ‘read’ their names. They have all been superstars but please do write their names down at home and encourage them to really look at the letters. When mastering any skill, it helps to practice, practice, practice!
Next Thursday is World Book Day.The children can all come in dressed as their favourite book characters to share in the fun.
Have a wonderful weekend and we look forward to seeing you Monday.
