This afternoon our fabulous Forest School was ‘officially opened’ in glorious winter sunshine!
The ‘seeds were sown’ for developing a Forest School during last year’s Year 6 residential trip to Culmington Manor after which Mrs O’Connor and Mrs Smith returned buzzing with ideas about what they had seen in terms of outdoor learning opportunities for the children.
So…here we are barely four months later and our Forest School is a truly spectacular learning environment which all of our boys and girls can enjoy and benefit from.
Already, our Forest School has provided so many wonderful learning experiences for the children and provided them with truly memorable moments…and there are so many more to follow.
During today’s opening ceremony Fr. John planted a silver birch tree, as have all of the classes, so that our ‘forest’ can well and truly take shape. Imagine what it will look like in a year…and beyond!
Such ambitious and exciting projects require a truly inspirational ‘driving force’, and of course who better than Mrs O’Connor for this role! Her vision and passion for making the Forest School come to fruition are clearly evident in what has been achieved in such a short space of time…truly amazing!
Rome may not have been built in a day…but our Forest School has blossomed in only two months!
Special thanks also go to Mrs Smith who has provided marvellous support for Mrs O’Connor and takes a leading role in ensuring its maintenance and development…including at weekends!
And the icing on the cake (literally!) was Mrs O’Connor’s amazing Forest School cake to commemorate this auspicious occasion!
Thank you to those invited guests and parents who attended this afternoon’s opening ceremony, making it an extra special occasion.
